The Croats have a nice, long and peaceful history, They live in Croatia, a democratic and self-sustained country, located in central europe, but throughout history it has moved towards the Eastern and Western sides. Croatia's area is 21, 829 square miles which is the equivalent of being as big as West Virginia. The capital of Croatia is Zagreb and has a population of over 1 million people. Croats have a rich heritage and culture that reflect Western and Central European traditions. The cultural heritage is revealed in music, art, theater, literature and architecture. For Croatia, Sports are a very important aspect of their Culture, Soccer especially. Soccer has the most viewers out of all of the sports in the country. The most popular team sports are Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, Handball, and Water Polo. Croatia beat countless teams in the 2018 World Cup such as Iceland, Argentina, Russia, England, etc.

The most noticeable religion of the Croats is Roman Catholicism. Over the past Century they maintained the religion with a few minor changes. In the Catholic Religion the holidays also apply to the Croats, these holidays include Easter Monday, All Saints Day, Christmas Day, New Years day, and International Labor Day. They’re are also Rites of Passage in their Culture, Baptism, Birth, and Death are the three main rites of passage. The birth of a child is welcomed by Baptism, the child is welcomed into the church by pouring water onto him/her as an aspect of baptism in the Catholic Religion. Marriage is conducted in a city hall or church. Urban Weddings, are to be smaller. As a way to celebrate the wedding, the guests of ride through the streets with cars and honk their horns and waving.

Croats usually live in single family homes, multi family homes or apartments. Some luxuries for Croats are appliances such as computers, electronics, or modern video games. Families usually live alone as a single family but it is also not uncommon that relatives live together in one house. Weekends are considered to be family time, on these days families go out together and have fun and get a drink of coffee or go on walks. Croatian families usually have 1 or 2 kids. In this society for the Croats having more than 3 kids is considered large. In the home the man is considered the head even though the women usually have more responsibilities, showing that the Croats have still stuck to the traditional way of things.

Croatian foods and cooking vary by region. Soup is very common in all the Croats regions and the meal timings and number of meals is also similar. Croats eat about 3 to 4 meals every day, Breakfast, Mid-morning, lunch and dinner. Breakfast usually consists of foods like Bread, Spreads, and yogurt, Mid-Morning is commonly fruits and baked goods. Lunch is usually the biggest meal out of all the meals and varies from soups, salads and a main dish. Dinner is in the late evening and consists of something small and light rather than big and hefty like how Canadians eat it.

For Croats, education is pretty important. Their education system isn’t half bad and actually challenges the students to try their hardest to pass the course. The subjects are pretty similar to how we have our subject, they have the basic main subjects and courses and curriculum. By Law, Croatian children are supposed to finish elementary school, but nowadays children are finishing secondary school which shows how the country is actually improving and teaching the new generation of adults.

To sum it all up, the Croats culture of Croatian is a culture which has a very rich and long heritage behind it and they have a certain uniqueness in their own little traditions that they do for several things such as marriages or holidays such as Christmas.
