Your neighbour’s dad is shot and killed, she runs to your house with her little sister when she knocks you call the police and have her charged for trespassing. It’s time we stopped playing politics with Australia’s immigration laws. By the time I’ve finished this presentation, each of you will know how immigrants are misrepresented by Australia’s One Nation Party senator Pauline Hanson. Would you like to be represented as someone that you are not? Immigrants are misrepresented every single day through media text, video and television to look like criminals, killers and scammers. How would you like it to flee your country, your family, your people to dive deep into a dark abyss of asylum seeking? Pauline Hanson, a senator, wrongly misrepresents this poor non-privileged community throughout her political career. On November the first 2018, Senator Hanson confusingly articulated on a sky news interview that prisoners of Nauru have children to escape their detention centre in this horrific quote “It’s because they know that they will use the children as pawns to get what they want” Displays of Misrepresentation like this portrays asylum seekers as people who are trying to take advantage of Australia’s immigration system and they shouldn’t be let into our country. Pauline Hanson is believed by people that want to believe that immigrants are just here to use our resources. The misrepresentation of immigrants and asylum seekers impact Australia in an economic and social way, migrants contribute to Australian society making us more culturally and economically viable.

Pauline’s Hanson accusation that asylum seekers on Nauru are having children to get to Australia is misrepresentation of these people. Her question “Why would you bring more children into the world?” challenges the human biological right to procreate. “It’s because they know that they will use the children as pawns to get what they want.” Hanson told sky news? Pauline Hanson is comparing asylum seekers as they are not people, this is not correct. How would you like to be told as a community that you are not allowed to further your gene pool? Australian statistics show that since 2012 only 46 infants have been born on Nauru from a population of around 1000. According to the average birth rate in the asylum seekers home countries for example (The Middle east) the birth rate is roughly 20 infants per 1000 people per year, over 5 years of average natural population progression these people should have roughly had 100 infants. Therefore, Senator Hanson’s accusation is irrational with no thought or evidence behind it. This simple research found that asylum seekers are having 60% less children in these environments. It is just Natural population progression. Consequently, this demonstrates that asylum seekers are not having children to escape Nauru. This false accusation mis-represents immigrants and asylum seekers to look like scammers, liars and people that we shouldn’t let into the country to align with Pauline Hanson’s personal views and political motives. Misrepresentation like this impacts easily manipulated Australian communities to think that Immigrants and asylum seekers are against them.

Immigrants are misrepresented and made out to be people they are not, through the senator Hanson’s speech. Immigrants are people, like me, like you, they’re humans with the same desire to live in a safe and secure Country to work and raise families. Senator Hanson represents asylum seekers and immigrants as liars, frauds and criminals. Immigrants boost the Australian economy, In the Migration Council of Australia report The Economic Impact of Migration the three Ps of economic growth where investigated, participation, population and productivity. It was noted through this investigation that immigration increases productivity through labour participation, employment and it particularly helps with industry’s needing high skilled workers, by 2045 Australia’s Gross Domestic Product will have risen an extra 6% through these advances. It doesn’t end there, as population increases through immigration, education, health facilities and many more government subsidised services will improve and grow as more money is pumped through the Australian economy. Immigrants are portrayed by Senator Hanson as people, that hinder Australia’s welfare and overall wellbeing, but they do not. Immigrants are negatively impacted by this because Australians think they are their enemies, but they are helping us.

Sadly, immigrants and asylum seekers will always be misrepresented in society. People like Pauline Hanson will always, demonise and spread false information about immigrants and still be believed by some people in our society that want to believe. The senator misrepresents the asylum seekers on Nauru by creating an irrational argument of them using pawns to get into Australia even though simple research shows other whys. Migrants contribute to Australian Society on all levels, of economy, bringing new skills, hard work and investments that enhance our society and make us more culturally and economically feasible. It’s up to you to decide that these people are people.
