DAAD motivation letter sample

I am going to write my motivation letter for DAAD scholarship. This is to make some decision on me and why I want to apply for this scholarship. My name is Ms, Myo Tin Zar Lwin. I am from Myanmar (Burma). I am 24 years old and was a Postgraduate Coursework student from Yangon Technological University (YTU), studying under the Department of Architectural Engineering. And I finished my Postgraduate Coursework in Architecture at May, 2018. I already graduated a Dual Bachelor Degree Programme in Architecture (B.Arch) and Bachelor in Technology (B.Tech) from Technological University (Thanlyin). As I wanted to become an Urban Planner even though I cannot get any Certificates or Degrees about Urban Planning in my hometown, so what I had learned about Architecture, which makes me more concerning about Urban Planning. What else there is a guarantee for me to get a job and for what I wanted to become? I have become more interesting on the Urban Planning subject however the subject is a bit differ with Architecture, and moreover I have done some projects related with Urban Planning while I was studying Postgraduate Coursework Programme.

I have joined Internship Programme in a company named “Classical Architect” for 2 months. After I finished up my internship, the company hired me as a Part-Time Junior Architect at December, 2014. Once I was graduated, they promoted me as a Full-Time Architect. In that company, I have been responsible to work collaboratively with my colleagues in the production of architectural drawing and construction drawing including: site plans, floor plans, elevations, building sections, etc. in through all stages of a project. But I had to left my position from this company because I have got an acceptance to attend the Postgraduate Coursework of Architecture at Yangon Technological University (YTU). I made some volunteering since I was studying my Bachelor Degree Programme.

The first thing that I did was I joined university library for volunteering service when I did not need my time to study. So from that I have got some opportunities to learned about Architecture and Urban Planning. And another service is that I joined the Association of Myanmar Architects (AMA) and Myanmar Engineering Society (MES) since I got a Bachelor Degree. Once I had become a participant in these associations, they offered me a lot of workshops, seminars, forums and community service activities to attend and serves as a volunteer. It was a great experience for me to have opportunities like that. Through my participation as a volunteer in such activities, I have learned many valuable thoughts and ideas and I have known how to well- organized in these kinds of organizations. In the section of personality, I am always punctual and precise on whatever the task I took. I do like to take challenges and I never feel like to give those up easily whatever I failed on doing those challenges. I always found myself to learn whatever it takes me to spend more time on the certain tasks. I always prefer to be honest on anyone to whom I am making as my companion whatever there is unfair or dishonesty, I feel like to find it out by myself and always wants to help myself or on others.

Why I choose Germany

There was an idea to get scholarships related with Urban Planning Courses in overseas for me since I was in university. But before some months ago, my lecturer told me to apply DAAD scholarship (Development-Related Postgraduate Courses), which of them are given to developing countries such as Germany for Regional and Urban Planning Courses. As I am always interested in EU nations. They are all well-balanced in each societies, educations, healthcare and etc. Among EU nations, Germany is the most popular destination among international students in the world. I am very impressed on Germany as my home country is as third-world nation. Most of the degree programs are top-rated so as the universities, and all from those certifications are world recognized.

The universities from Germany make students to get much easier on job employment and it has been huge demand for newbie employees. There are some facts that I think I could serve as a development or model in my hometown and that is Germany, it has the world’s fourth- largest economy and most of the people are highly innovative in their perspective fields. And also most of the people are strong focus on exporting for their products. This makes me much easier for my job to make some innovation on my projects for my country, Myanmar as an example. Nowadays in Germany, the developments are concerning more on having better living environment which is become more trending. Germany is among the leading countries in terms of “green technologies”, which can be benefit for environment protections. With the great amount of success in economy, I think I can be able to learn about this topic too and will be able to improve my country. On the other hand, our education systems were very lack to acknowledge and follow up to learn properly to what I wanted to studies. As the nation is poor enough, the economy is not quite well to approach for further studies, as my dad job and income cannot quite well effort to bring my studies to overseas. Therefore, I would like to get the scholarship to study in Germany.

Conclusion

Among Development-Related Postgraduate Courses, I am interested in both M.Sc. Integrated Urbanism and Sustainable Design at University of Stuttgart and M.Sc. Urban Management at Berlin University of Technology. I would like to apply DAAD scholarship for one of these courses for the academic year 2019/2020. Both Postgraduate Courses are focus on urban and regional development planning in theoretical and practical, including all areas of planning such as environmental planning, regional policy, economic development or planning in developing countries. Once I get scholarship and accomplish my studies, I will return my hometown and worked as an urban planner. If I can become one, I can be able to analyze, evaluate, integrate, emphasize and apply critical thinking in interdisciplinary planning process and I can create well-designed urban spaces to make a better community. Through from the learning outcomes from these Architectural and Urban Planning Courses, I can eventually deal with urban challenges and make some refinement on my ideas and knowledges to make a better living environment to my country. I would like to find opportunities like the one that your DAAD scholarship is giving to the international students from developing countries like me. I am prideful to become one of your DAAD scholarship recipients. So I would like to see any of your reply on my letter.
