Artificial Intelligence, a concept that would make possible our most unfeasible dreams. Would not it be interesting to know what is this marvelous thing that is going to make our dreams come true? Artificial intelligence is exhibited by artificial entity, a system is generally assumed to be a computer. AI systems are used in economics, medicine, engineering and the military, as well as being built into many common home computer software applications, traditional strategy games like computer chess and other video games.
AI is an area of research that goes back to the very beginnings of computer science. The possibility of building a machine that can perform tasks that require human intelligence is an incredible one. Artificial Intelligence was once something that people thought could only exist in science fiction novels or movies. Just imagine a machine that can think for itself. “The Terminator and the Washing Machine” by Retro Report looks at media fears about artificial intelligence. It focuses primarily on the chess matches between grandmaster Garry Kasparov and the IBM supercomputer Deep Blue but includes a history of robot fears and the current state of artificial intelligence.
After defeating Kasparov, Deep Blue made history as the first computer to beat a world champion in a six-game match under standard time controls. Kasparov had won the first game, lost the second and then drawn the following three. When Deep Blue took the match by winning the final game, Kasparov refused to believe it. That was no ordinary game of chess. It’s not uncommon for a defeated player to accuse their opponent of cheating – but in this case the loser was the then world chess champion, Garry Kasparov. The victor was even more unusual: IBM supercomputer, Deep Blue. Systems are being created that can understand speech and game playing computers are being created that can beat even the best human chess player.
With the advancement in technology, there is an increase in growth of the artificial intelligence. This technology is advancing so fast that many people are afraid that it will one day overtake the humans. Would this mean the end of the world for the human race? This is a question that is in the minds of many people. It is true that artificial intelligence is a significant threat to the human race. But can it overtake even those that have great minds to create it? I do not think that humanity would be erased by their technology that they have created. All other things are programmed to think and reason but the human brain ideas naturally. It has got the power to reason beyond the artificial machines. Scientists like Stephen Hawking; legacy technologists like Bill Gates; not to mention cutting-edge techies like Elon Musk, have all announced their worries about runaway A. I. killing off humans.
