Introduction

I never knew how strong I was until I had to forgive someone who wasn’t sorry and accept the apology I never received. This is so very true and possibly anyone can follow this attitude. Forgive people in your life, even those who are not sorry for their actions. Holding on to anger will only hurt you not them. Do not expect apologies from anyone, it is for your own sake that you need to let go negativity from your system. Make your today a forgiving day. Embrace the power of forgiveness. Eventually, you have to forgive each and everyone to move on with a positive attitude. Forgive all those who have wronged you, hurt you or even let you down in any manner. Free yourself from the burden of carrying the grudge along with you, it will damage you much more than you can even think. Set free, the ones who have hurt you, by not allowing their actions to have any kind of control or affect over you for even a second more. Bless them instead. By hating them you will be giving them some space in your heart as well as the mind, rather you must release them from your conscious. Wish them good health and wellness for their journey in life and move on.

Forgiveness is that special feeling which helps in self-healing. It is a change of feeling when a person offers to let go of others negative emotions of offence, revenge and more. People who forgive, in spite of any level of offence made by the offender, require a peaceful mind that goes without any expectation or justice. The intentional feeling of letting go or pardoning others offence comes from the positivity that wins over negative emotions. It may be necessary for the offender to ask for forgiveness in the form of an apology, however, it is needed for the forgiver to forgive from the heart without any expectation of apology. It is a needed action for having a peaceful mind. Maturity is when a person hurts you and you try to understand their perspective rather than hurting them back.

Importance of Forgiving Yourself

Forgive yourself for the wrongdoings in the past, also for giving away your power to someone else to control. Forgive yourself for the life you wrongly chose to live if any. Forgive yourself for not having the needed knowledge of dealing with a situation at the needed time. Forgive yourself for doing wrong to others, knowingly or unknowingly.

There has been a survey done on forgiveness which states that self-forgiveness is an important part of accepting oneself and it also deals with the mental health. To avoid repeating the wrongdoing, people need to learn from their own mistakes while forgiving themselves. This helps in attaining overall improved health. It also helps to promote self-worth and brings about a positive behavioural change. When you forgive people for their mistakes which they never realised, you bring yourself immense peace. In the process, you even learn to forgive yourself without judgement. Let go of the bitterness you create for yourself. There is nothing worse than anger and resentment in the heart. Do not build walls of hatred within, allow the positive energies to flow undisturbed. True forgiveness deals with healing yourself. The behaviour of others is not always appropriate, but you cannot control the behaviour of others and it is none of your business to do so. You will gradually become well accustomed to the idea that the behaviour or rude attitude of the others cannot play any role in your emotions unless you allow it to happen. When you truly forgive, the world will look different and fresh to you. Research has shown incredible effects of forgiveness on humans. People can jump higher and run faster on the tracks of life after forgiving someone. They get a great sense of satisfaction and confidence as they release the burden of resentment and anger. When you forgive, you heal. When you let go, you grow. A simple prayer to regain strength at times when you feel hurt, which says:

Dear God,

I feel wounded, betrayed and fully broken hearted and at times I do not fully recover from the deep hurt we feel inside. Thank you for knowing all the struggles I still carry on. Help me to forgive and to let go of this hurt and grant me the peace to overcome. I pray for those who have hurt me, please help them. I leave them in your hands and find my strength and comfort in your holy spirit. Amen. Don’t give others the power to ruin your day. What they say or do is basically a reflection of what they are going through. It is more about them and less about you.

Some people think that holding a grudge against someone who wronged you will be bothering the person. No, it is not so, rather holding a grudge will make you bitter and impure. You can forgive people without even speaking to them but remember not to hold any grudge. It is a process of keeping peace in your mind till the time you regain all your powers of getting back to normal. Learn to love your scars by pardoning those who gave them to you. Let go and discard the hatred, love is easier to carry. When a deep injury happens, we recover faster by forgiving.

Use the pain of your past as a tool for a better future by excusing yourself of the mistakes and learning to perform better. Forgive yourself and the others for the sake of progressing inside out. It will help you learn and live. Every time you pardon, you feed your angles and disappoint the devils. Some people hold grudges against you in spite of they doing wrong to you, forgive and release them anyway. Do not let anyone rent space in your head unless they are a good tenant. According to psychology, no matter how angry you get, you always end up forgiving the people you truly love. Forgiving is permitting yourself to let go of bitter experiences that plague your spirit. It is true that when you rightly love someone, you tend to naturally expect a little care and love from them. Do not get disappointed or break down if your expectations do not meet reality, give it some time. You cannot control everything that happens. Sometimes you just need to relax and have faith that things will work out. Let go a little and let life happen the way it is.
