The puritans were a member of a group of English Protestants of the late 16th and 17th centuries who regarded the Reformation of the Church of England under Elizabeth as incomplete and sought to simplify and regulate forms of worship. Back in those days the puritans for a short period persecuted the Separatist, the separatist were the ones who supports the separation of the Catholic Church, so the Separatist went to America for search a religious freedom. But when Charles II become king he restored the Angelican Church the puritans were the ones persecuted, because of that during the 1630 more than 15.000 puritans journeyed to Massachusetts to escape religious persecution and that movement was called the Great Migration.
They were hoping to find a better life in America, make a society based on the bible to practice freely their religious. So the American dream for the puritans were to find freedom and a better life. For me the American dream has not changed, people still coming to America to find something they want, to be a better person or even a fresh start to them. The American dream is something common to all people, but it is something that everyone views in different ways. The dream is dependent mainly on the setting of where one lives and one social status. For example, The Declaration of Independence was by Thomas Jefferson, wanted freedom, but freedom for people like himself that were white landowning males.
Every American dream is somewhat different, but they all relate to the times that one lives in. The American dream is universal in that everyone hopes for positive change and that the change deals with their place in society. The American dream something that everyone aspires for, even if it is hard to accomplish. It is the thing that keeps people going. Today, many people immigrate to the United States of America in search of the American Dream; freedom, equality, and the opportunity to achieve their personal goals in life that they could not otherwise achieve in their homeland.
The American Dream is the pursuit of prosperity and opportunity that drives people to push their own limits and persevere in order to lead successful lives and achieve whatever goals they set. The American Dream is a reality; every citizen of the United States of America has the opportunity of its achievement no matter what prejudices they may face, depending on their perseverance and luck.
