The 17th and 18th century was a very chaotic. The reason for this is that times were changing for example in Japan they were just entering a new era which was the Edo era. But this was not the only change since in Europe there was a lack in insensibility. But with all this change a new type of government system came to play. This new system was called Absolutism which is where all power in a place goes to one single queen or king. Some of the rulers during the time that used absolutism were Peter The Great, Tokugawa, Cathrine The Great, ect. But with great power comes great responsibility and as an absolutist you were the only ruler and had all power and with this absolutism did have detrimental effects in places. Absolutism was detrimental because if an area only has one ruler then that ruler can change thing to benefit him/herself. Another way absolutism is detrimental is that the rulers could change/make rules that can hurt or affect the people in their society. Finally is that one beneficial thing about absolutism is that the one ruler can create rules that can protect their nation and help and no one can change it.
The first reason Absolutism was detriment is because the absolute ruler can make decisions and rules that can benefit themselves but this also affected the societies they ruled over. The first example of this is with Louis XIV because as a child he was treated terribly by the nobles in France. He kept his hatred for them all his life even as he grew and when he finally came into power he gave the noble almost no power, but that wasn't just it because he also gave them fancy titles and made them have to rely on him and no one else. Another way this was shown through rulers was also with Peter the Great, who was the absolute ruler of Russia and the way he used his power to benefit himself is he created a beard tax on his own people and the reason behind this is because he wanted his people to be more like Weaster Europe and this made people pay money for something as little as having a facial hair.
Another reason Absolutism was detrimental to society was that the rulers hurt the people in their own society and not only physically. The first example which was already stated was that Peter the Great taxed his people which made them lose money and people who didn't have the money could get into financial situations. Another example is of this is with Tokugawa who had the peasants and farmers treated badly and this had to do with the social hierarchy that he created. When it came to the hierarchy in Japan there was a massive gap between the poor and the rich. This caused the people of Japan to get mad and with anger came riots and peasants also began to revolt.
Finally is one way absolutism was beneficial was that the absolute ruler can create laws and rules that can help and protect the nation and no one can change it. The first example is with Tokugawa who isolated Japan from the rest of the world. This helped because it allowed the 250 years of peace and allowed people to live in peace and not worry and along with this the wood block paintings were made and plays were created. But it also led to cultural boom and education increased as well. The wise choices of Tokugawa Ieyasu were smart and if this isolation were never to happen and they were to open up to their nations who knows what could've happened especially since other rulers wanted to open up Japan and have them embrace Weaster cultures. Because of this smart decision this benefited the country and would not have hurt them in the long run.
In conclusion Absolutism was dentramential because giving all the power to only one person simply isn't a good system to rely on or use. Giving only one person full control is too much power and with only one person in rule it doesnt give the mass a voice since they can vote or have any voice in what rules are made or changed. This can lead to chaos and the fall of a nation and can also cause deaths upon the masses. One example of this is Suadi Arabia since in the country they have a king who makes all the rules. In the country, women are not given a voice and forced to cover their face in public and need to be with a man if they want to leave their house. This is similar to absolutism since one person is on the throne and also shows how absolutism isn't a viable way to rule over an area.
