Why do I want to be a teacher? (essay)

While being an educator may not procure you the six-figure salary you have constantly longed for, it has different advantages a long way past that of a weighty check. The essential reward of being an instructor is having the option to see the aftereffects of your diligent work in real life, each and every day. Do you recall when you were a child, and you experienced issues understanding a specific idea and afterward BAM! Out of the blue you get it. Becoming a teacher may be one of the hardest decisions a person can make. It takes a certain type of person to become a teacher and there are so many different factors and decisions involved. In this essay sample I'll try to answer why I want to be a teacher.

One may ask themselves: why I want to teach? do I have the patience for this job? Am I emotionally ready to open my heart to students? What ages am I considering teaching? Is there a specific type of students or subject I would like to teach? Am I ready to take on this responsibility? These questions and many more are the most important questions you can ask yourself before becoming a teacher. Not only will you become a teacher but also a mentor, a friend, a parent figure, a role model, mandated reporter and so much more. Some of the decisions we make can affect a child’s life.

When I think why I became a teacher, I think about he biggest reward of being a teacher that is knowing you have changed a child’s life for the better. Not only are we benefitting the student educationally but also emotionally. The best feeling in the world when you are a teacher is to physically see the success of a student. Examples of this would be academically; watching your students grow to love school and love learning. Whether it be spelling their name for the first time, counting to one hundred, solving a math equation or getting their first A; we as teachers have succeeded. Another reward as a teacher is knowing you are making a difference emotionally. Being there for a child that may not have the best home situation, friend group, family, etc. This is an example of how a teacher can not only become a mentor or role model but also a great advocate for a student’s needs.

Lastly, as an educator, you are giving students the aptitudes they have to go out into the world and succeed. It truly doesn't make a difference at what stage in a child’s life this occurs, so whether you are showing five-year-old’s letter sounds or high schoolers about photosynthesis, you are giving them what they have to go on and improve things and expand upon those aptitudes. Although there are many reasons to become a teacher, there are also many challenges that make our jobs difficult.

Teachers carry a lot of weight when it comes to being a mandated reporter. The biggest difficulty I have faced as a teacher is differentiating between right and wrong. Meaning, what I myself portray the right thing to do versus what another family believes is the right thing to do. Teachers are often put in situations where their decision can ultimately save or ruin a child’s life. Each understudy who strolls through my classroom is unique. Some battle with math and needs additional assistance. Some adapt truly well when they read the content, and others when they tune in to a talk or when they work the issues out without anyone else. Balancing different learning styles and student timelines can be difficult to keep up with. Parental contribution is probably the best marker of scholastic accomplishment for our students. Those children whose guardians show their kids since the beginning that learning is resourcful and remain included all through school give their kids a more prominent chance to be successful. Most parents just want what is best for their children, however they may not realize that how important it is to be involved in their child’s school-life. This is another hindrance that educators must obstacle. Educators must play an important role when allowing guardians, the chance to be included. They should be immediate with families and connect with them in discourses about the role they play in their children’s education.
