Students may have the opportunities to attend an online school and they can make a choice between online schools and traditional schools. The debate of "online school vs traditional school" is prevalent, as both have their merits. There are some similarities between an online school and studying in a traditional school; however, there are also many differences. Most traditional learning classrooms are designed where the teacher is giving direct instruction and students are listening and taking notes. Traditional school is a better education and better prepares a student for their future by having face-to-face contact with the student and teacher and enables socialization with students.

In addition, students find it easier to have a face to face lesson with the teacher. Traditional schools offer students ways to interact with teachers and peers in a way that online formats do not. While many online courses integrate some form of physical interaction in hybrid courses, courses that are entirely online do not have a face to face component. “While you may see your professor on video, you can’t raise your hand and get immediate feedback or lean over to your classmate and ask a question. With face to face interaction you develop lifelong contacts, memories and experiences that are harder to foster in an online environment. These types of interactions humanize the educational experience in a way that online learning does not”(Alleyne, 2013). Traditional school prepares children for the real world by having by them interact with diverse people.

Ryan (2019) stated in his article entitled “Face-to-face vs. online learning — which class is best for your student?” that traditional education system has stood the test of time, and other experiences like educational summer camps are developing. Meanwhile in online learning, it does wonders to incorporate some of the strengths offered by face-to-face learning into the online environment. Doing so transforms the online learning experience to a child simply sitting in front of a computer reading prompts to one where they still have the freedom to learn from home and on their schedule, but are also taught and led by a live, in-person expert.

Traditional schools usually have a diverse population of students coming from a vast number of cultural backgrounds. At a traditional school students are presented with the task of learning how to interact, get along with and solve problems with peers who are different from themselves. The same opportunities may not be available to students who are at an online school. Attending a traditional school prepares students for life in a diverse society (Lawrence, July 5, 2013).” Online school is better because you can work at your own pace and students can focus and avoid distractions from other students.

For example, students can access their course at any time, from anywhere they can log on, in most cases. This means that parents, working students, and professionals on the move have the option of attending classes no matter their work schedule. Students only need a computer and Internet access to take online classes. One of the benefits of online education is that students may not have to sit for long periods of time.

Lessons can be paused when needed, and notes read at will. In addition, it is true that studying online requires more self-motivation and time-management skills, because you will spend a lot of time on your own without someone physically close to keep you focused on deadlines.

Your online course will not only teach you geology or poetry, it will also help you become more self-motivated, a trait that will make you stand out in the workplace and beyond. It will look great on your résumé. In conclusion, these are some of the similarities and difference between online school and traditional school, they both have a similar routine, and a similar chance to learn and the textbook are also similar. On the other hand, they are different because homeschool is individual, there are less chances to meet new friends and the learning is faster.
