Understanding of My Mission Statement

In the words of Mrs Platford “a mission statement is a positive statement of intent. It clarifies one's purpose and is achieved over time. It is built on and reflects one's goals, values, qualities and aspirations. It is motivational and it encourages self development.”

MMA helps me get into shape to and learn self defence in order to protect myself as well as restarted basketball as I enjoy the fitness and wanted to do a sport where I am part of a team. Both these sports enable me to get a break and stress reliever from academics as well as giving me two different useful sets of skills. My goals are make the first team for basketball as well as take part in tournaments for MMA.

My family is my backbone and they help me through all my difficult times. They enable me to be me and help me aspire to who I want to be. As the famous quote by Vivian Tjoa “Friends come and go but family is forever.”

My peers also help me get through tough times and enable me to feel comfortable in my own skin at school allowing me to express myself. I believe this quote Len Wein accurately sums up true friendship by saying “A true friend is someone who is there for you when he much rather be somewhere else”.

Meditation helps me to clear my mind in order to not get overwhelmed. It keeps me calm when I am in a stressful environment or situation. “Silence isn't empty, its full of answers” is a very powerful quote that enables me to find my way through difficult times and enable me to find clarity.

Religion plays a big role in my life due to it being another major backbone as it goes hand in hand with family. Religion gives me a sense of belonging and identity and as quoted from the Bhagavad Gita “It better to live your own destiny imperfectly than to live an imitation of somebody else life with perfection.” I believe this quote weighs in strong on my belief to have your own identity and express yourself.

Ethics have always been a huge part of my life as i always strive to do the right thing regardless of the repercussions as I believe in karma and what goes around will come back to you so I always strive to do the right thing, be a good person and be the best Vahin Ghazi that I can be!
