The Wadsworth museums of art were founded in 1840 by Daniel Wadsworth. He was among the first American major of patrons. The museum had almost 55 000 artworks. It featured Greeks, European and Roman decorative arts. Initially, Daniel Wadsworth had an idea of establishing it as a gallery of a fine art but he was later convinced of creating an Atheneum.

By then, the term ruthenium meant a cultural institution with a library, artifacts, and works of art devoted to the learning of history. The Wadsworth building comprises of five connecting buildings.

Among them, the first was the gothic revival Wadsworth building of 1844 (Liscombe et al,73).This building was designed by famous architects Ithiel town and Jackson Alexander Davies. Initially, it was the main art house and gallery, Connecticut historical society. After a while, the young men institute became public library known as Hartford; the natural history society was later added to the building in 1860.in 1964 all the institutions that were not affiliated to museum move to other Hartford locations. Daniel Wadsworth intention at first was to devote the facility in a modern style. When the facility was opened to the public in 1969, it was devoted to fine arts and the intention of Daniel Wadsworth was fulfilled. Since its opening, the museum has paved many ways for other museums across the united states.it has been the oldest museums of arts and has continued to serve the public especially those who have the interest in skills.

According to recent research, the foundation was the first in history to buy the works of Caravaggio, joseph miro, and Frederic Church. During its development, it accommodated the works of Italian masters called Picasso and surrealists. Due to the great pursuit of Daniel Wadsworth in developing the museum, the collections have grown to provide about 50000 artworks than the initial 5000.Some of these artworks from different parts of the country include European impressionist paintings, the unsurpassed collection of Hudson River school among others. Others are African American arts and some artifacts. This museum underwent a series of renovation from 2010 to 2014.33 million dollars were put in the project to renew the museum structures to improve the visitors’ experience. On September, 19 grand opening of the museum was made and this marked a peculiar moment in the 173 storied museum histories. A conservation department was set to take care of treatment of artworks of in households of the Wadsworth Atheneum.

Currently, the materials used in the building have changed abruptly. More modern and sophisticated specifications have been introduced in the museum. The responsibilities of the conservation group include monitoring, conservation, and public outreach among others. (Macchi and Giorgio,8).

On the other hand, a new cathedral was set by Giangaleazzo Visconti so as to replace the former that was existing on the site. The construction of this cathedral began in 1386. However, there were hindrances that were experienced in the construction. For instance, the was not adequate funds to sponsor the construction of the building.

By 1402 the structure was half way.One of the leaders called Napoleon Bonaparte volunteered to sponsor the building of the cathedral. Roofs were made and flying buttresses put.in 1943 there was bombing in the city and the church was damaged.in 1943 new stained glass was out to replace the older ones.in its exterior design the cathedral had gothic rooflines famous for the high density of the pinnacles. The temple comprised of over 90 gargoyles with roughly 3000 statues. The cathedral was of broader proportionality due to its double aisles. The cathedral has two side aisles on each side. This stone building was made in recent time but rebuilt into an idealized gothic structure. There is only part of this building that stands away from the others look of modernism that would separate them by eye so quickly. The towers, which separates from the original rectangular shape and points upward to the sky I believe are what makes this building gothic. Also in addition to that are the windows, which have the design old medieval feel, but with no point at the top of them instead they are square due to this being a resurrected idea of a gothic style building (Roth et al,78)

Gothic structures were an architectural style that was prominent in Europe during the late middle ages. Gothic appeared first in the late days of the renaissance period. However, when one takes a look at Wadsworth, you will realize that it is made out of stone in a medieval style .the stone used in the construction were reconstructed from in the period in the 15 century. The internal design of the stone used to build this block looks nothing like the outside in the sense of build into a medieval building. For example, there aren’t any columns on the inside holding the building up making sure that stabilized in that way. If there are any columns, it is for show and has nothing to do with the structure of the building. I can also connect the stone it is made from to it being built to last or looking the part at the least. This look gives it the age and class that separates it from the rest of the buildings around it drawing attention towards itself and its artifacts inside. There are six slender windows on the inner beams that have a rectangular look. This resembles the archer holes in the walls from back in the day so they would be able to shoot through while protecting their land giving it an authentic gothic feel. The only window in the whole building that completely resembles the most common style of gothic windows would be the central window above the door both by shape and by design. Bellow that the entry with gold trim also has the rounded tip at the top mimicking the window in the center of the building relating to church doors or an old chapel. There are then the hard tops of the building all the way around giving it a solid to an open space pattern in the sky. In the 19th century, things were changing during that time for what people thought was their future and the better. New technologies left some in awe while others were scared to move on during the transition to romanticism. It was all about rustic, sentimentality, reverence and mystery for people before all the technology came into play.

Something else that attracted my attention was that the Romantic era is the outcast of the reason and intellect of art and more pertained to emotion nature and a shared understanding of god and religion. It went back in time to a different perspective that was simpler and socially graceful. All of these things can relate to the stature and feel of the Wadsworth Museum, and Gothic turned Goth as an age of chivalry and piety. Milan Cathedral, the most significant cathedral in the world, has white pearly material. It is indeed a holy cleanly place where you can feel enlightened by its broad spiritual presence there are more than I can count shafts capitals and basses all the way up to the pinnacles as an array of gothic architecture is placed into one building it is overbearing and bleeding medieval essence. On the main square of Milan in Europe, The differences between 1386 and 1864 reconstructions though they may seem similar and reminded you of all of the glory of the gothic in the past the Wadsworth was more simplistic and remained subtle while the Milan is outgoing and influential in a statement ( Heymann and David, 76).The famous cathedral was constructed in 5 years. With all its detail and lack of technology in the grand scheme of things should not own so much character yet shows the history or medievalism stronger than a Wadsworth museum. Back then, when being created, it was not made for the Goths for religion but is intended to be cathedrals built in Gothic architecture focusing more on the design than the religious purposes.

Despite all this, the relation between architecture and goths is not very significant, but the style that had begun creation from France interpreted from the Romanesque style. Pieces like this spread through all of western Europe as a legendary landmark while the Wadsworth or something of its resemblance couldn’t possibly be as much of importance to make such a mark in history. Which is another reason I feel they are different in so much more ways than just looks? Only then, it was called renaissance art but when exchanged for the word Gothic it was not in a right way they were considered rude and barbaric. Gothic style buildings all most of the time resemble each other what they are known for is vertically and light. All of this later gained by the design ideas of close together columns. Ripped vaults and flying buttresses in the past these were almost essential to build these buildings due to the lack of technology and resources. The buttresses would support the roof of the building so that it would stand for a long while but today with the reconstructed buildings of an old design. I am sure they could add the buttresses to the buildings, but the fact that they do not have to is probably what makes these structures so different. The person reinventing the building is choosing what to add on and leave off supported by either what they liked on a vacation trip when seeing a particular structure or along the road while studying the culture. However, the simplistic look could even be from them just not having all the knowledge or just not knowing how these things made are. Which also makes these rare gothic buildings from the past one of a kind. Despite the architecture being used in many town halls and palaces, it’s only the big cathedral in Europe that can outdo others.

In analyzing the comparison between the two structures, the comparisons are deeper to an extent that professionals will just look at. Those who are not informed of these structures may not have any idea. However, there are the apparent facts that that separate the reconstructed gothic to the medieval past gothic to be seen even in passing to my eye now. From the details of the cathedrals (religious buildings) to even just the Garden houses only for decorations till now where modernism surrounds them and can be separated as quickly as the Wadsworth could be from its new construction as well. Currently, there are many constructions that are gothic.
