Celery, scientifically known as Apium graveolens, is a medicinal plant that is widely used in modern society. These nutrients contribute to its use as herbal medicine for treating conditions like flu, colds, poor digestion, muscle spasms, and water retention. One of its notable benefits is the treatment of kidney problems, as it increases urine output and helps remove kidney stones (Brown, 2019).

In modern applications, Apium graveolens is used in food, ornamental industries, and pharmaceuticals. Its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties have been studied extensively. Antioxidants inhibit oxidation, which can lead to cell damage. Endogenous antioxidants prevent free radical-induced cell damage, while exogenous antioxidants, derived from natural and synthetic sources, play a central role in preventing aging and disease progression (Green & Taylor, 2018).

Research has shown that the ethanol extract of A. graveolens components exhibits profound antioxidant activities.
