Confidentiality is about preventing unauthorized persons from gaining access to unauthorized information. The ethical duty of confidentiality refers to the obligation of an individual or organization to safeguard entrusted information. It includes obligations to protect information from unauthorized access, use, disclosure, modification, loss or theft.
Confidentiality is important for an IT professional. One of the most important elements of confidentiality is that it helps to build and develop trust. It potentially allows for the free flow of information between the client and IT professional and acknowledges that a client’s personal life and all the issues and problems that they have belong to them. And it is important to keep for IT professional clients’ business as just that – their business. That IT professional should only discuss matters relating to their clients’ business with co-workers, and then only what needs to be discussed. Discussions should take place in the workplace and not be audible to other members of staff or the general public. You should never discuss clients’ business with family or friends. To ensure confidentiality, IT professional should only access confidential information for work that is covered by their job description and the policies and procedures of the organization. They should only disclose information to other parties where a client (or co-worker in relation to their personal information) has consented to the release of the information or where disclosure is required or mandated by legislation due to indications of risk of harm. Further IT professional needs to ensure that any information that is collected is securely stored and disposed of. Confidentiality and deontological ethics
Deontological is an ethical theory that uses rules to distinguish right from wrong it is often associated with philosopher Immanuel Kant can't believe that ethical actions follow universal moral laws such as don't lie don't steal don't cheat the ontology is simple to apply it just requires that people follow the rules and do their duty this approach tends to fit well. There is, however, no such thing as absolute confidentiality in the community services industry. IT professional are required to keep notes on all interactions with clients and often to keep statistics about who is seen and what issues are addressed. As a IT professional, there will be times when you could be faced with some personal difficulties regarding confidentiality. IT professional need to give their client an assurance that what is said will be in confidence (that it will stay secret between them) because, unless IT professional to do that, the client is unlikely to be open with him/her. However, IT professional also need to be aware of the limits to the confidentiality that will offering.
I strongly believe that confidentiality is highly important aspect of the ethical method. And our personal information has not to be shared to anyone which is I think is a common sense. If someone had access to your personal information, He would have the ability to affect you weather in a good way like companies and professionals or in a bad way like thieves and frauds.
