In today’s society is it easily a question of why our youth is still paying for an education in what is supposed to be number one ranked country in wealth. Although it is a question of whether making college tuition-free is just a road toward compromised educational values there are still many arguments for free college education that counter that worry. The first of course being that we have already made kindergarten to twelfth-grade education free to the public. Next, free tuition would make it easier for students to concentrate on their studies rather than worry about how to pay off debt as well as their bill and living necessities. Finally, America needs a better-educated workforce and members of society who can participate in politics.

When considering whether to make college tuition-free for all people no matter their background there is one problem that was voiced that I found particularly interesting. This event being that having a tuition-free education could compromise the educational value itself. The points given to prove this problem included that colleges normally offer different classes depending on the courses they offer as in if it is a speciality college versus and general college that covers more bases. This meaning that if you made all colleges tuition-free you run the risk of having fewer speciality colleges and therefor compromised education. Also, if there will be less competitiveness that comes with getting into these speciality colleges, so the students will not put as much effort into their grades. Which could lead to an overall failure in gaining the educational information needed.

First the point of how kindergarten to twelfth grade is already free to the public. There was a point in our history when elementary and high school education was not free to the public. Then, it was determined that elementary and high school education was very important for the minds and future of youth. It only makes sense that free college education would be the next step in the education revolution. This event would also level the playing field past high school education, making college non-biased towards students who are less financially set.

Next, Free tuition would make it easier for students to concentrate on their studies rather than how to pay for college on top of their preexisting bills. Being able to concentrate on their studies also means that they can graduate on time or even faster. Students often have to pay for rent, food, car expenses, utilities, and many other bills on top of paying towards their tuition. These things are not generally covered only by scholarships, grants, and loans. Students, of course, can work non-stop to try to cover the bills, but non-stop working can reflect badly on their grades.

Finally, America needs a better-educated workforce to help the economy. Having an educated public will help with making good political decisions for the country. When you ask young people, these days you see less and less of those who are ready to vote or those who even want to vote. Most jobs, today also require advance technological skills and training that you get through a college education. Free college would also kickstart the general economy in the sense of how having less debt would mean that the youth would make more big money purchases such as cars, houses, and the start of businesses.

This all being said though there is a valid concern for the quality of free education, the perks of free education are more relevant. It would not take much for the United States to implement free education across all fifty states. Many other nations have already begun giving free college education as an extension of elementary and high school education. This implication meant higher taxes but in a world of people who received the education necessary for better-paying jobs, it is all worth it.
