Henry was born in 1386 at Monmouth Castle on the Welsh border. He was the eldest son of Henry IV. Henry succeeded his father on March 21, 1413. The 26-year-old prince took the throne as Henry V.
This battle was an English victory in the Hundred Years' War. The king Henry achieved victory in spite of the numerical superiority of its opponent. The battle was a significant military blow to France and initiated the further English conquests and achievements.
In May of 1422 Henry won in the Siege of Meaux. King Henry V died on August 31, 1422, of battlefield dysentery.
Henry V became one of the most renowned kings in English history. He led two successful invasions of France, cheering his troops to victory at the 1415 Battle of Agincourt. After winning this battle, he made England one of the strongest kingdoms in Europe. His portrayal in Shakespeare’s histories made him a paragon of English spirit and chivalry.
