Through human history, mankind has always looked ahead into developing new ways of transport that alleviates their daily life load. Including mostly a development related to economical, agricultural and industrial areas with the purposes of improve production and distribution of basic products and services into society.
Though all the previous areas have benefited from the introduction of vehicles, the biggest one has been the civilian or social area where there has been a development of a wide range of automobiles covering every single basic necessity in a regular citizen’s life. Cars have become an essential pillar on our life, allowing us to harness the power of fossil fuel combustion in order to cover distances that generations ago would seem more than marathonic and in a mere fraction of the time it used to take. Cars are advanced in society due to the history, modernization, and advances.
The first attempts of creating a self-powered vehicle can be dated as far as the sixteenth century through a Jesuit monk by the name of Ferdinand Verbiest. He built a mechanical powered four wheeled model for the Chinese emperor of the time. Unable to carry passengers it sparked into the collective consciousness creating a chain reaction which through the span of centuries, gave life to multiple accounts of mechanic innovation like the “fardier a vapeur” (Cugnot).
Expanding into the mid nineteenth century where the first electrically powered vehicles were developed in Europe, where developers like Karl Benz with his “Benz patent Motorwagen” kept the public view more than mesmerized thanks to the revolutionary concept presented by his idea. Later evolving in the early twentieth century with companies like the Ford Motor Company introduced both reliable combustion powered vehicles and the means of the mechanized mass production which both shook the American market.
From that point on, it has been advance after advance in the automobile industry that has expanded the combustion powered automobiles into a wide range of types based upon the needs of the customer or demands from the industrial sector. These go from the simplest like the practical coupe, into the magnanimous like the mining trucks employed in the extraction of coal that quenches America’s energy thirst. The engines employed into these wonderfully assembled machines employs.
The crescent and constantly changing global market demands have molted into several alternatives to the long tradition of fossil fuel employment which have been proven highly contaminant to the Earth’s environment. New power sources like electricity or even organic based fuels that in modern days make a new front in global commerce by regulating production costs. This also importantly is reducing the human print on our atmosphere.
As a final conclusion, it is important to mention the quite mesmerizing speed with which automobile history has developed. Also, the many ways that the vehicles itself contributed to our societies' development. The cars allow humans to mobilize through immense distances also working as the blood cells to the world’s circulatory system. This leads us every day one minute closer to success.
