Our lives wouldn’t have been this fascinating without the contribution of Engineering. It raised new questions, opened up new possibilities, reduced human efforts and made lives better with new innovations. I was always awed by the possibilities of the ever evolving field of science and Engineering, and to explore and experience it, I decided to have a career as an Engineer. I enjoyed learning science and maths from a very young age and I was always curious in learning how devices and machines around me work, and this naturally made me opt for a science group in my 11th and 12th grade. Physics, chemistry and maths were the major subjects and I did enjoy learning physics a lot because of my teacher. His classes were interesting and inspiring. And especially the chapters on Electricity and Semiconductors increased my curiosity to learn more about electrical and electronics. I had a very good academic record and completed my schooling with 96%. Apart from studies, I actively participated in various extra -curricular activities like debates, drama, quiz and story writing.
Choosing Electrical and Electronics Engineering for my under graduation degree, was by far one of the best decisions of my life for the subjects fell in the natural scope of my interest. Its interdisciplinary nature introduced me to various electrical and electronic concepts. While my performance was excellent in all the subjects throughout my graduation, I was highly influenced by subjects like Digital logic circuits, Embedded Systems, Control systems and microprocessor and microcontrollers. And the strong interest on these subjects, made me grab the opportunity to do a project funded by a Canadian company, in my final year, on “Development of Smart Street Lighting System”, which was an embedded project involving microcontroller and simple logic circuits. The project focused on developing an intelligent street light control system that controls the illumination level of street LED lights depending on the movement and presence of pedestrians and vehicles. The project was completed successfully satisfying the expectations of the review committee and was awarded an outstanding grade. I enthusiastically participated in various technical competitions during my college study and organised a workshop on MATLAB in the college symposium in my final year.
Right after my under graduation, I got the opportunity to work in Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions, India, as an Embedded Software Engineer. It is a great feeling when your career matches your interest and I am experiencing that in my work. In Bosch, I develop software modules for the Electronic control units (ECUs) that are used in cars and commercial vehicles. I was able to practically realize the theoretical concepts of networking, control systems, microcontrollers and many more. Working in this field, gave me the knowledge on protocols like Controller Area Network (CAN) and Unified Diagnostic Services (UDS) and AUTOSAR architecture. As a developer, I validate the requirements; design the code flow and program in Embedded C. I also contributed towards automation of software testing and process adherence and this exposed me to programming languages like Perl and Python. And I got the opportunity to learn how industrial validation and testing works. I was awarded the “Best Fresher” for my performance and contribution to the team after six months into the work.
I had a new learning experience in every single day of my work and these experiences made me understand my inborn nature of constant learning and innovation and I believe that I have now reached the stage, where I have to further enrich my knowledge. I now seek to further explore into the industrial research area of the field and to bring myself to that level of expertise; I sincerely believe that I need a sound higher education from a great university. The Master’s Program in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology with specialisation in Autonomous systems in your University is a perfect match for my career aspirations. Otto-von-Guericke-University of Magdeburg’s intercultural staff and student community is a positive appeal for students like me to learn and thrive. Having worked in an organisation that has its roots in Germany was clearly a major point in deciding to do a masters degree in a German University. The ties that the university maintains with the research facilities promise blooming opportunities for research. So, I firmly believe that studying in your university will enrich my theoretical and practical knowledge and the international student community will make me competent enough for my future endeavours. To sum up, I have the motivation and skills necessary to pursue graduate studies and now I need a right platform to achieve my academic aspirations and goals. And I believe that your university will provide that platform.
