My Past, Present and Future Life: Reflecting on My Experience

My Life Background

I live in a Vietnamese family with both of my parents and my sister, who is currently attending UCI. This family dynamic has played a significant role in shaping my past, present, and future life. I went to both Pacific Drive Elementary and Nicolas Junior high before I came here at Sunny Hills. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always been interested in anything relating to technology and engineering. My parents found out about my interests when I asked them if I can take the AP Computer Science A exam last year, and I’m glad they let me because I was able to pass with a 4. Currently, I am in the “i4th” robotics team, and I hope that the experiences I make there will help lead me to a possible career in the future. In my spare time at home, I would usually be playing video games with my friends or playing piano. Other times, my sister and I also just like to sit around and watch TV with each other. With the transition into high school, I hope to be able to work my hardest to learn and understand the content that’s given to me. My sister was a former student here, and she tells me that there are many programs here that I’ll fit in perfectly.

My Future Short-Term Goals 

When it comes to short-term goals, I would like to be able to get to know all of my teachers at school. I regret starting out junior high as the quiet kid and never communicating with my teachers. Hopefully, I will be able to make connections with most of my teachers and meet new people along the way. I would like to get to know as many of my teachers as possible. To me, meeting new people in my community helps me understand myself and my surroundings more. This helps me be able to compare and contrast my life with theirs.

Long-Term Goals of My Present

As for my long term goals, my one goal I wish to achieve is to be able to graduate from college and get a stable job relating to mechanical engineering. Right now, I’m in the mechanical division in my robotics team. Ever since I joined, I’ve started to learn what it takes to design and create like an engineer. The experiences I make and the people I meet through the robotics program has exposed me to the real world of what it’s like to be an engineer. The reason I want to reach this goal is because my parents come from a rough background and never had the opportunities that I have today. I would like to have the chance to make it up to them and be able to have a stable job to help my family in the future.

With all of that being said, that’s a little background information about myself. I’m looking forward to being a freshman and learning more along the way. Looking back at myself in the past, I’ve realized how much I have changed and grown. Even though many of the people I know say that being in high school is tough, I just need to do my best in all my classes and let everything happen from there. As long as I keep on being a hard worker, I know that I can be successful. All in all, I hope the decisions I make here in high school will be memorable and make me who I am. The plan for me is to just keep being the best version of myself.
