The profession of nursing in an extremely rewarding job. Nurses are disposed to a new challenge everyday, molding them into stronger individuals. In order to pursue a career as a nurse practitioner , one must understand the duties and important qualities expected, the education required, job security and outlook, and the flexibility and quality of life in the career.
Nurse practitioners are expected to execute certain duties and possess specific qualities to be successful in their career. Nurses practitioners diagnose various health problems and analyze test results or changes in patient’s condition, and alter treatment plans, as needed. Nurse practitioners are a much needed role in the health-care industry. The career is becoming a worldwide primary care provider. Traits that are important in a nursing career include communication skills, critical thinking skills, compassion, and resourcefulness.
Research shows that a nurse’s compassion can help diminish a patient’s suffering. Being able to provide that compassion is a reason why nurses are so significant in medical situations. In order to be a successful nurse practitioner, one must be able to perform the duties required and have critical qualities. Preparation for a nursing career involves essential education. A nurse practitioner typically has to attend school for five to six years. Nurse practitioners must earn a master’s degree from an accredited program.

Nurse practitioners must have a registered nursing license, complete an accredited graduate-level program, and pass a national certification exam. Growth will occur because of an increase in the demand for healthcare services. Nurse practitioners can perform the same duties as a physician, which increases the demand. A 2015 article in Forbes magazine titled, “Nurse Practitioners More in Demand than Most Physicians,” says that when hospitals or facilities in the healthcare system look to fill a vacancy in their medical staff, where at one time physicians were the hiring focus, the recruitment “gaze” has now landed upon nurse practitioners and physician assistants. The work of a nurse practitioners is becoming a key to society, promising success.
Nurse practitioners have a great amount of opportunities due to the flexibility and quality of life the career provides. The nurse practitioner profession can be a highly rewarding career with plenty of opportunities to help others and take on a much needed role in the health-care industry. Some nurse practitioners may choose to travel and take their skills to rural areas that do not have enough health care providers. This is a demanded job worldwide. The necessity of nursing care to improve health services are increasing day by day. Therefore, not of the countries paying attention to provide opportunities for other countries to fill the vacant positions within their country. However, it is not easy to enrol into these without higher educational certification and prior experiences. Further, they will need to prove their fluency in English languages when applying for this type of opportunities. Since they are dealing with the people the language is one of the most important things for them.
The nursing practitioners are one of an essential category to ensure better health care services worldwide. Since they working in each and every aspects of establishing health, all the respective administrative bodies should take appropriate actions to improve the quality of the profession as well as the satisfaction about the job.
In my opinion, I still want to pursue a career as a nurse practitioner because of the flexibility of the profession. I enjoy having the option of specialising in a specific division. I am also in favor of the opportunities of travel within the profession. I believe that I posses the essential characteristics of a good nurse and I hope one day fulfill my dream.
