What is the relationship between spirituality and science? Why we usually compare science vs spirituality? In this essay we need to first ask ourselves if there is a relationship between spirituality and science or if they are anyhow linked. Many people think that science and spirituality are in conflict with each other, but then the real fact is that they are not. On the contrary, they are complementary, co-operative, collateral and concomitant. They both provide important pieces to form the tangram called life.
What is spirituality? “Spirituality is the state or quality of being dedicated to God, religion, or spiritual things or values, especially as constructed with material or temporal ones”. So in my own understanding, we can say spirituality is basically something you believe in. Spirituality are things you cannot see nor touch but you strongly believe exists. This things are not proven to exist but older generations planted it in our minds that they truly exist.
Okay, what is science? Science is knowledge about the structure and behaviour of the natural and physical world, based on facts that you can prove, for example experiments”. So science is actually things in which we do not only believe but things that are also proven to exist, scientifically.
Science and spirituality in education are likely to increase student inspiration to learn science by challenging student stereo typical views of scientists and science. Science education is the field concerned with sharing science content and also process with individuals not traditionally considered part of their scientific community. The standards for science education provide expectation for the development of understanding for students through the entire course and beyond.
We are surrounded with technology and the crops of science such as electricity every day. Public policy decisions that affect every aspect of our lives are based on scientific evidence and the immensely complex wholesome world that surrounds us illustrates infinite scientific concepts. As youngsters grow up in an increasingly technologically and scientifically advanced world, they need to be scientifically literal to success. Spiritual education refers to no more and no less than a deep connection between students, teachers, and subject, a connection so honest, vital and vibrant that it cannot help but be intensely relevant. Spiritual educations is where the system connect students to their beliefs, being open about religions and where one comes from. These build trust and confidence for learner. It makes them aware about where they come from and a clear vision as to what the real world have for them in the far future.
On the other hand, science fulfil the divine potential of youngsters. When spoken of spiritual education, it is not only going to church, it`s also helping youngsters understand they will be a lot happier if they are kind to others, and if they work for greater ideals. Objects and facts existed in the universe from time immemorial but we have understood them through scientific observations and discoveries one by one. Molecules and atoms always existed, Newton only explained them systematically. These forces do not explain the composition and the nature of existence given substances but how matter is formed.
Science and spirituality are actually both sides of the same coin. Spirituality is science, just like in science if we add two chemicals then we get a new resultant chemicals. Similarly, if we put in our faith and surrender as input ingredient then we get protection and response in the result.
