The principle aim of positive psychology is to facilitate the understanding and foster the impacts that enable individuals, societies, as well as communities to flourish. In this case, positive psychology acts as the creator of flourishing and enhances optimal human health. Consequently, human’s lives are characterized by positive experiences, for example, happiness, interest, love which is not affected by negative emotions. The negative emotion which influences the well-being of humankind comprises of anxiety, anger, despair, as well as sadness. Continuous influences of people by both positive and adverse psychological emotions has shown to indicate significant judgments on their overall emotional health.

Considering these findings, Viktor Frank clarifies that “what man needs is not a tension state but instead a potential meaning that is to be fulfilled by him”(Frankl 65). In this case, positive emotion flourishes and facilitates the well-being of individuals. Furthermore, the positive feeling does so specifically within the present and on the long term basis as well. The important fact about positive psychological emotions is that they are worth achieving a positive psychological growth and increase people well-being over time.

According to Victor Frankl regarding positive psychology, he illustrates the significance of the Martin Seligman positive psychology ABCDE method. Martin Seligman is the champion of the positive Psychology ABCDE method which objectively reviews actions and occurrences in people’s lives. Consequently, following the positive psychological ABCDE method, one can reflect on his thoughts or actions towards a critical situation. Besides, it facilitates people to review as well as reshape their thoughts(Seligman and Padesky 69).

Notably, the aim of the positive psychological ABCDE’s method is not to smoothen life but to consider various possibilities that enable people to evaluate options before accepting our insights. In this case, the most noticeable advantage of the positive psychology ABCDE method is that it allows one to realize how to think or argue about a situation at any given time. This implies that one can create a new pattern of thinking whereby positive thoughts are reinforced, and the negative ones are assumed.

In a daily situation, one might use one of the Seligman’s Positive Psychology ABCDE method while discussing with a client. Although for some people it may take time to familiarize with the ABCDE method, eventually one will learn to instantly review the method in his/her mind when dealing with adverse situations. The positive psychological ABCDE method hence plays a significant role in emotional health. For instance, when one is presented with a situation that can cause negative thoughts, one can use “A” to look into conditions which are causing stress. As a result, one can minimize stress intensely by unraveling what happened.

On the other hand, Carl Rogers was a social psychologist who in his theory I am vs. I should clarify that for a person to grow, they require an enabling environment that offers them openness as well as self-disclosure. Furthermore, people needed acceptance in their society and offered a chance to be listened to while they address themselves. According to Viktor Flank, without these being put into account, people’s emotional health will not develop as it should(Rogers, et al. 54).

Carl Rogers trust that people can meet their targets, interests, and desires in life so long as they consider self-actualization. Notably, this theory was one of CARL Rogers’s significant contribution to psychology and which facilitated people to develop their emotional health.

James Fowler established a theory of stages that individuals go through as their faith grows. In fact, these stages can be applied to those people in traditional faiths and those who believe in alternative spiritual faiths such as secular world as well.

The first stage correlates to Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs in that individuals in this stage are self-centered and regularly find themselves in difficulties due to their unprincipled lifestyle. As personal faith develops to the second and third stage, they rely on some kind of institutions, for example, church to offer them stability(Schoenrade, et al. 38). In this case, people become attached to their religion and get upset when anyone questions the religion they are attached to. Notably, individuals who manage to reach the final stage faith realize that the truth is to be found and that life can be full of mystery.

Viktor Frankl describes how people desire to have a purpose in life. Indeed, he considered personal responsibility as “essence of existence” (Frankl 34). Currently, researchers indicate how important meaningfulness is to employees than other aspects of work which include compensation and rewards, promotion opportunities, as well as working conditions. Notably, meaningful work is motivational which leads to increased performance, job satisfaction, and commitment. However, it important to explore the role leaders play in this process. For this reason, Viktor Frankl explored five tools for transformational leadership which are as follows.

  • A transformational leader has integrity
  • A transformational leader creates an inspiration of vision of the future
  • A transformation leader motivates employees to implement and deliver the vision
  • A transformational leader builds a healthy relationship with all members of staff
  • A transformational leader manages the implementation of the vision
