A food diary is a log of what one consumes within a day. Having to keep a food diary is one of the worst nightmares I experienced. It took so much responsibility and focus to come up with a food diary. Keeping a food diary surely raised up my awareness of how little or much I was eating. A food diary assisted me in understanding how much nutritional food I should take in, and the contents I needed to decrease in my intake to avoid complications later on in life. A food diary gives one accountable track of how much is put in the body. Food tracking creates awareness. It constantly keeps track of food that is being taken on a daily basis. “However, there were instances where I would forget to diarize what I would have eaten or even forget what I would have taken during the day. Eating is simply mindless.” It was a difficult task on its on as it was something that I was not used to at all. One important thing I took note was to be able to travel with my food diary where ever I went. This encouraged me to take note of everything I took during the day, a responsibility it was.
In, as much as I would like to take so much the sugar cane video taught me that it is of importance to have a reduced intake of sugar so as not have complications as one grows older. I have a sweet tooth and now I understand how I developed addiction on things that have sugar. The sugar cane video showed the in-depth of how one becomes addicted to a particular thing. “The more you take it the more you want it”. “Hence’ one will end up neglecting the other food products that have high nutritional and that benefit the body.” Lack of exercise will also tend to promote gaining extra calories that are of no importance leading to obesity. Keeping a food diary truly show much I should try to eat so that I gain weight. I realized the reason I was a bit underweight. It is important to take food in the right proportions. I discovered that I normally eat food whenever I’m hungry or whenever I choose to eat. I might get hungry and choose not to eat at all which highly affects my diet. Procrastination on when to eat affects my diet the most. I can afford to have a heavy breakfast and go out through the day without taking anything else and I will be fine.
Having compiled a food diary, I discovered that my dining times are completely not there. Probability is it could be that I’m staying alone. I’m also a victim of eating unhealthy food such as fast food. The oil used in the food is unhealthy and it’s mainly found in fast foods. It good to have home cooked meals that also contain full nutrients required by the body to function properly. In my opinion, one of most important insights gained from keeping a food diary is connecting what and how you eat to how your body feels. Eating healthy is important as it boosts up the than keeping me hyper or energetic to tackle tasks during the day. Heating up leftovers for instance, it does not bring up good energy vibes rather than a dull day. A point stated in the researches shows how much food losses its nutrients once wrongly preserved. Once I took freshly cooked vegetables with high protein such as beans with a citrus fruit got me jovial throughout the day. Therefore, I took note that eating clean is important. Having to keep a food diary, it made me realize how much it is important to watch progress and regress within my system. It gave me an insight on how it was important to healthy and lived healthy. There are various factors that lead to living healthy, it’s also a matter of choice and discipline that one should maintain. Being addicted to food content that contain high levels of sugar is unhealthy. This can lead to various problems such as tooth decay which occurs when one consumes a lot of sugar. Pain is what one will end up going through. It is important for one to watch his or her diet. Keeping a food diary is an educator of how your mind and body. It also taught me a lot about my lifestyle and non-related food habits. It is important to pay closer attention of what I eat. I surely eat less than I thought I would regardless of how I would mindless eat at times. I also took note that some other days I took a long wait to eat. My calories are also not what I thought it would be. My consumption was either too low or too high. Food cravings took hold of me more than I thought. Some therefore end up eating a few hours after dinner. Whatever I took I would not take into consideration the nutritional content rather put focus more in eating what I like at the moment.
In conclusion it was a challenging experience to keep a food diary. Important lessons carried from having a food diary is that it is important to have awareness of what taking within one’s body health wise. The more consumption of products that contain too much sugar leads to complications which will lead to an unhealthy lifestyle.
