The Issue of Cosmetology High School Programs

My pathway is cosmetology. Cosmetology high school programs are closing and so are cosmetology schools. I propose that to help solve the Cosmetology programs/schools from closing we should fix the complains it could get, advertise the industry, and fundraiser to get money.

The Cosmetology schools and programs are closing because the number of students enrolled is small, not having enough money, and others are closing because of the complains they get (Jennifer Pignolet, par. 7). This problem caught my attention because there are not many schools that have the Cosmetology program, also many people don’t get to study their career because not having schools by them or schools closing while they were enrolled. Students and people that want to study Cosmetology are affected by the problem (“Students blindsided by closure of beauty college”, par.1).

My solutions to this problem are that we should fix complains if there is some. When a school gets complains and the complaints don’t get fix people decide to leave. If a school doesn’t have enough students it shouldn’t close because they still have some students enroll, instead they should advertise the industry in salons or other schools. If its running low of money they can do fundraisers to gain money. I believe this will resolve the problem because that’s how schools get money from a fundraiser and do events for people to see the programs they have. It will affect students and people that want to be the future cosmetologist in a positive way. Students want a easier way to start there career. They can have the chance to start in high school.

Skills I learned in my pathway that pertain to the solutions is that fundraisers help to get money and that communications can help you achieve what you need or want. I will use these skills by speaking up for the problems we have. I personally picked the Cosmetology pathway because I enjoy making people happy. Cosmetology is a pathway where you help people feel better of them selves. This industry has been growing ever since it started. Closing programs would affect the industry, but no matter what it’s still going to be there. There is always going to be someone wanting a haircut, or having cute nails, or their makeup. Cosmetology enhances hair, skin and nail. It is very easy to fix a problem when everyone works together. How would the industry grow if the chances for people to get in that business is getting smaller? Having the programs doesn’t affect anyone negatively but closing it takes dreams of careers people have. This is a career you don’t have to spend years to learn the trade.

Cosmetology schools and programs are closing, in this case, we could do things to prevent this. We can solve this by; fixing complains of the program, fundraisers will help with money, and we can advertise the industry, so people can get more involved. People getting involved could help instructors make it possible to teach, and open new schools with the opportunity.
