Many times, we are inspired by the people we are surrounded by. When I was quite young, my aunt who is a nurse, changed the bandages on my injured hand, taking care of me. I admired her for it and from the age of eight I knew I wanted to be a nurse, just like her. As a nurse, she had so much passion for helping people who could not help themselves to recover from illnesses. The reason why I wanted to become a nurse is because it is so rewarding to make a difference in someone’s life. It is a career that helps you save lives. It brings happiness to individuals and their families, and comfort those in need. Nursing is not for the faint of heart and requires a lot of sacrifice and patience. I am a person who likes to get challenged. My aunt has repeatedly told me, no day is ever the same, and each day offers a variety of challenges that keeps you learning and excited about the profession. I have had a bit of experience of working in a hospital setting, that have prepared me for the nursing program. During this time I was able to work with highly capable nurses. This allowed me to have a better understanding on both the medical side and practical side of this filed.

Firstly, I want to help people. When you are in a hospital the patients need emotional warmth and tender words. A nurse spends more time with patients then the doctor, and create a comfortable atmosphere for the patient. The nursing profession is challenging and diverse. I believe that nursing is one of the most interesting career that continues to expand in today’s society, and I know I am going to enjoy the impact I can make in my patients hospital visits. A nurse is much more than just a caretaker of the ill. A nurse is a gentle person, someone who considers the patients’ needs first and delivers healthcare in a professional and kind way. The diversity and learning opportunities that nursing offers makes it the best field for me to get into.
