The book “Attitude is Everything” touches on the idea of how the way we perceive the world and the circumstances around us affect us through our actions which are followed by the results. This is a book based on Jeff Keller's journey of being a motivational speaker. Being a lawyer, he was doing well, but he felt that something was missing in his life. He decides to make a gradual transition and start working as a full-time motivational orator in 1992.
This novel is divided into three parts: 'Success Begins In The Mind', 'Watch Your Words' and 'Heaven Helps Those Who Act'. The foremost objective of the book is to make you believe that you can achieve anything you desire. Positive thinking & Useful Visualizing Ability shift things in our favour, but if we continue welcome negativity in our life, it will absorb all the great stuff. The first part talks about how an optimistic attitude brings about satisfaction and victory. He uses many examples like the comparison between Sara and Sam, how a baby keeps trying to walk despite falling and many more. One of the most significant examples was that of Dr. Victor Frankl. Dr Victor was a prisoner of Nazi concentration camps during WWII. It is inevitably obvious how rigorous those camps were especially when people had to build their own chamber to die, had to be specimens for experiments and were tortured to the extent where they seemed to be only left of bones. With one going through such a horrible experience it is expected that he would be pessimistic yet, Dr Victor talks about how important it was for him to stay positive despite losing his loved one and bearing through such tortures. He also shares on ways to promote a positive attitude. It is crucial to believe in ourselves that we have the potential to achieve what we are able to think of. The second part talks about how our use of language supports our attitude. The pleasant conversations we have with the people around us affect us in a positive way. A positive way of speech not only boosts ourselves but those who are with us too. Finally, the last part talks about the importance of actions. Each thought and dream need to be substantiated by actions to push us to our limits. The book seems meaningful as it helps me understand ways to promote myself as an even better version of ourselves. The book uncovers key steps to take to change ourselves and help us walk on the path of success in our lives. The quote “Success is a state of mind. If you want success, start thinking of yourself as a success”. Dr. Joyce Brothers' was also mentioned in the earlier part of the story. The inclusion of such meaningful quotes add value to the book intentionally making us readers have much more faith. Overall, it is an engaging non-fiction book which supports us on our way to success
In conclusion, this book has helped me a lot because I needed some sort of support and positivity. I am very much confident about achieving my goal, but after reading this book, I knew for sure that no matter how long it takes to become successful, I will never sit back and stop trying. The book is fast-paced and very, very engaging. It helps us to see new possibilities. It shows the power of positive attitude. Also, the author Jeff tells us how one can bypass negative people in their personal and professional life.
