In every individual’s life, there comes a point in time when an unforgettable event will occur. Whether it is positive or negative, it may vary on the situation, but it is something that will be remembered forever. In particular, an event I will never forget is the day that my grandfather passed away. I vividly remember the emotions I felt and the thoughts that ran through my mind at that point in time. While this event wasn’t positive, it doesn’t mean that it is easy to escape one’s memory. The death of a loved one is one of the hardest things an individual can bring themselves to talk about; however, I will never forget that day in the chapter of my life, as while one story continued another’s ended.
On November 7, 2014, I remember the day as if it had just happened the previous week. I had gone to school that day, thinking that it was going to be a typical morning and afternoon at school for my younger, fifth-grade self. Unfortunately, my mother picked me and my sister up from school and waited until the moment we were in the car, calm and unexpected, to deliver news neither me nor my little sister could have ever expected: my grandfather had collapsed and just passed away. Time seemed to stop, as I just froze. I will never forget my heart sinking and feeling a thud inside myself, and being so stunned that I couldn’t move or speak for a minute straight. My ears rang with my sister’s cries, who was only 7 at the time and knew no better than to sob. My mind couldn’t even begin to process the news I had just listened to, and I finally asked my mother one question which doesn’t make any sense, even to me, saying, “What do you mean? He died?” While I heard the words she was saying and understood them clearly, I didn’t want to accept that a man I had known and loved from the time I was a baby will not just be a simple phone call or car drive away. In addition, another scenario from this day that I won’t forget was my father coming home and seeing him cry for the first time in his life. To elaborate, his father, his role model, and his own hero had just left the world forever with no direct warning. Imagine our own fathers, our own parents and role models, passing away and leaving us with no goodbye and only a memory of who they were during their life.
My father came home from work that night, much earlier than he usually would, and hugged my mother, myself, and each of my siblings individually before explaining what had happened and the events that occurred earlier that day. After I really did hear what happened, I was at a loss for words. My mother sent my siblings and me up to our rooms, but I decided to mischievously sneak down my stairs to listen to my parents conversation, but I saw my father, a man who I considered large, scary, and fearless, weeping into my mother’s arms, feeling sorrow as he repeated that he never said goodbye. Seeing my own father’s tears pained me almost as much as the news I’d received earlier that day. Knowing there was nothing I could do, whether it be easing my family’s pain or helping my parents, left me hopeless, which was both the most vivid and heartbreaking memory of my day. The death of my grandfather was an event which helped me grow up and realize the true meaning of loss. The passing of a loved one is something one can never be prepared for, no matter how old, sick, or injured they may be. I will never forget the day my grandfather passed, the words my mother spoke, her voice breaking as she told me, or the feeling of a knife piercing my heart after the worst news I had heard thus far in my life. Therefore, while one can never prepare themselves for an unforgettable moment in their life, good or bad, it is something that will change them forever. Finally, the death of my grandfather was an event I will never forget, and I was never the same after the loss I faced.
This experience has caused in 2014. It was a very horrible and terrible moment. Thinking about this case makes me to remember my University Student life. I never imagine such a terrible thing happened to me. I still remember the whole event clearly although it happened many years ago. Every person experience’s both the good and the bad things in their life. It all happened so fast. This experience taught me many things. I got a lot of lessons from this experience.
I don’t really have a worst experience because I had such an amazing cooperating with my family and friends. If I had to say something it would be about me. That day was my sister’s three years old birthday. I want to surprise with birthday cake. So I make a decision to buy a cake with my saving money. In the evening, I went to a bakery to choose a birthday cake for my sister. I selected the chocolate cake cause my sister like chocolate very much. After I bought a cake, I called my mother and told her that I would come to home soon. When I arrived at entrance door to our house and then walked in. It is a Seven-story building, and we lived on the fourth floor. I pressed the elevator button, and waited the elevator for a few seconds. I was very happy and excited to see my sister’s innocent face. I didn’t know that something horrible would happen in next moment.
When the elevator was on the third floor, the elevator light was suddenly turn off, and surrounding become complete dark and silent. Elevator didn’t go upward anymore then I tried to press buttons to reach ground floor and it didn’t work. I was shocked and didn’t know what to do. So I calmed down my-self and called my mother. Mother is not answering because my sister was playing game with mom phone. I was very frightened because my phone battery left only 2 percentages. I called my mom phone again and again. At last my phone was shutting down because I used all of the battery. So I started shouting and called for help. I am lucky, the man who live in the third floor heard my voice. He came near to the elevator door and he tried to talk with me to ease my anxiety. Then he called my family and searched for people to help me. The technician said there are some technical problems with the elevator, and it may take about two hours to solve the problem. Finally, the elevator back to normal and the door was opened. Then I walked out from the elevator and meet my family who are waiting for me. I said thank to people who tried to fix elevators and the man on the third floor.
After experiencing this most terrible thing in my life, I learned many things from it. I wished this kind experience was the first time and also the last time. We can’t predict what thing will happen in the future, so what we can do is to try our best when we meet it. This experience taught me how to face the emergency event, and I would never forget it. I never forget this event till now.
