I wish to apply for a long-term student visa to be able to pursue my master’s degree in Germany and be a part of the Master of Engineering and International Business (M.Eng.) Program at the SRH Hochschule Berlin for Renewable Energy, Water Sustainability, Waste Management. Germany is a high powered country which has the world’s fourth-largest economy by nominal GDP. At the moment, Germany is Europe’s strongest economy, it is a developed country with a low level of corruption, which has a 6th place in the world according to the human development index. The Fortune Global 500 companies, 28 are headquartered in Germany, so it has 5th place in the list of the top 10 countries with the most Global 500 companies. German kids are placed into Hauptschule, Realschule, or Gymnasium when they are in 4th grade, which determines if they will go to university or straight to the workforce; hence, no surprise for Germany being a global leader in science and technology and its achievements in the fields of science and technology are significant and benchmarks. 106 German laureate have been awarded the Nobel Prize. Germany boasts some of the world’s most famous inventions. We all can thank the Germans for the life changing invention like light bulb, the automated calculator, and the automobile. That’s not all, the Germans are also credited for the discovery of insulin, the pocket watch, petrol/gasoline & Diesel engines, the automobile engine, differential gear the motorcycle, the jet engine, which has changed the speed and time of transportation.

In beginning of 1990s Germany took significant steps to curb use of fossil fuels and promoted the use of green energy. This transition was known as Energiewende (or energy transition, and fruits of this transition are now seen in Germany as they are super power of clean energy. Germany is a leader in climate and energy policies. In 2011 Germany made a decision to shut down all its nuclear power stations (contributed to 18% of total electricity) by 2022and replace it by renewable energy sources and new storage for clean energy. Implementation of energy policy help Germany generated 36 percent of its electricity using clean energy in 2017, an increase of nearly 4 percent from just the year prior. The country is one of the top three countries in solar PV capacity. Wind power contributes as second-largest electricity source to its country, accounting for 18.8 percent of Germany’s energy combination. Germany has strong greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) reduction goals. It’s advancement in clean and green energy can be seen from its goals to reduce its GHG emissions by 40% from 1990 levels by 2020 and further up to 95% by 2050 and a step ahead, country plans to reduce its primary energy consumption by 20 percent below 2008 levels by 2020, and by 50 percent till 2050.

Almost, all Germans support clean energy which helps country in achieving its set goals about clean energy. A survey carried out in 2017 found that 95 percent of surveyed citizens support the expansion of renewable energy as important or extremely important. Germany also has more cultural activities and places than any other country, it’s a cultured place, with 6,200 museums, 820 theatres, 130 professional orchestras and 8,800 libraries in 2013. German is spoken by over 100 million people worldwide. SRH Hochschule Berlin is one of the most reputed institutes in Germany. The university trains qualified specialists in various emerging domains. Its close networks with collaborative partners regionally and partnered universities offer positive prospects for successful professionals. Full-time attendance, smart classrooms, advanced equipment’s in practical laboratories and above all small groups of students with individual focus of staff on learning advanced modern courses and research. Everyone gets involved in the study process. Combination of engineering and management in the course will help me achieve my goals. At global stage, we all are working to accelerate the global shift from the dirty fossil fuels driving climate changes like global warming, pollution, depletion of ozone layer etc. to renewable energies like wind and solar, so we can power our lives and economies with same speed as of now without destroying our planet. Studying in a country which has excellent growth in clean and renewable energy is a boon to me.

In conclusion, I would be fortunate if I get the opportunity to study at SRH Hochschule Berlin for the Master of Engineering and International Business (M.Engg.) Program, where studying and sharing ideas with students and also share my idea’s freely with young, intelligent and experienced lecturers. This will take me one step closer towards achieving my goals. After masters I wish to deploy the acquired knowledge and practical experiences from course to benefit my community and country.
