In today’s comprehensive world, it is my duty to become active in changing the world for the better. Signing up and joining many extra-curricular activities has enhanced my skill to engage in an active role in improving the community as well as the school. As someone who is active in reaching out and providing aid for those who need it has reinforced my inspiration to take time out of my life to benefit others. Choosing propelled subjects has effectively challenged my work-ethic and time management skills. I am filled with gratitude for the opportunities that have been given to me. I never regret the choices I have made in my life through those opportunities. I have lived a very special and unique life, learning a wide number of lessons along the way. My experience travelling abroad have exposed me to new cultures and I have adapted in a way that was accepted by those cultures.
As far as I remember I had a happy childhood. I am the second out of 6 siblings. The way my parents raised me is what made me the person that I am today, and I think they did a tremendous job. They never forced me to study or to be the best. My parents believe the choices I made. “Just be you, be yourself, because the future is in your hand, we just try our best to give a nice path and a little encouragement for your starting journey in life’, that is what my parents said. I constantly believed that there is no such thing as enough education. Education allow us to grow, and to achieve bigger and better things
I am currently studying foundation in allied science in one of Malaysia’s medical school in Cyberjaya and will graduate in January 2020. I think I did much better academically in my foundation than I ever did in high school. That’s because there is no routine to the experience. Every week, I have new projects to complete, tests to study for, and activities to try. To me, academics is my highest priority. I am very particular about my schedule and I put care into my work and always manage my time efficiently so as to fit everything without any overlaps.
Besides academics, I try to connect my passion for education with my desire of helping others. This year, I volunteered for the 10th University Scholar Leadership Symposium Service Learning Day in Malaysia and it was an eye-opening. There were about 200 delegates from all over the world, 200 refugees and 25 volunteers. Apart from that, I have taken small volunteer program that was organized by my college especially during Chinese New Year and Eid. I love learning new things which is why I love being on a team. By volunteering I can understand more about the community and learn through hands-on experience. I have wish to network with people who share common goals and gain new friends. Volunteering contributes to improve my well-being including better self-esteem, psychological health, and happiness. The serendipitous byproduct of volunteering for me is that I have met people who have become friends, I have developed as a person, improved my by default low self-esteem and learned new skills.
I knew that I wanted to go into a career in the medical field, and physical therapy/occupational therapy/speech pathology was the career path that blended aspects of my life that I am passionate about: helping people. I recognized my passion for helping others in the time I spent during my free time. I decided to pursue my bachelor degree in rehabilitation science, as it would be a career that combined my passions: utilizing medical science principles to help people achieve their goals in a one-on-one environment. Earning this degree can help you understand how to apply scientific knowledge to clinical management plans, preparing for my future career.
Due to the opportunities given to me, and the lessons I have learned throughout my life; I am confident in saying that I am well adapted. I believe I deserve to be selected for this scholarship because I love socializing with people. I like to meet new people as well as to know a whole new different culture. I will commit myself to effectively take advantage of the opportunity that this scholarship will provide me. What sparked my interest in South Korea and desire to study there is because of the richness of its culture and history, and for its reputation for welcoming foreigners.
