This comprises of our intellectually, bodily presentation to employers and others. The phrase Brand You is the representation of individual’s characteristics and uniqueness from other individuals. As identified by Wilson & Blumenthal 2008, Brand you embodies individual’s areas of strength, their core principles and ambitions within their field.
Throughout analyzing the reading materials and personal research, my understanding of Brand You was further enhanced by the information provided within the e-books, ‘Managing Brand You : 7 Steps to Creating Your Most Successful Self; Managing Brand You; The Brand Called You. One of the aspects of my understanding’s enhancement was the Third step of ‘Creating Your Most Successful Self’ by Wilson and Blumenthal 2008, that indicated that unlocking one’s innermost ambitions and personal passion is reliant on one’s acknowledgement of personal identity. In order to successfully improve and advance in my career plans, I must create a personal brand through acknowledgment of personal identity which ultimately relates to my future career ambitions as stated by Drucker, in his Managing Oneself 2005, book. Additionally, in relation to the understandings of Brand You, I have analyzed multiple social entrepreneurs to cross check similar possible ambitions to myself and I have been inspired by three social entrepreneurs, Daniel Flynn (Co-founder, Managing Director at Thankyou), Simon Griffiths (Co-Founder & CEO at Who Gives A Crap) and Taj Pabari (Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Fiftysix Creations). The inventive solution approaches of these social entrepreneurs towards important and constantly neglected social problems throughout the world have particularly inspired me.
For instance, Daniel Flynn and Simon Griffiths founded Thank You 2018 and Who Gives A Crap 2018, to support in battling health and poverty problems in developing countries such as limited access to clean water, malnutrition and health and hygiene, as well as funding child and maternal health programs throughout the globe. Taj Pabari is inspiring to me because he established a social enterprise that has an integrated business model to further progress with their primary purpose to educate young kids through the use of their workshops and products.
