Baking a cake (essay)

In this descriptive essay on baking a cake, I will take you through the process of making a delicious chocolate cake. To begin with I would like to say that I like sweets very much, so I decided to cook the chocolate cake. For it I will need 8 ounces of softened butter, 24 ounces of brown sugar, 4 big eggs, 10 grams of vanilla extract, 16 ounces of flour, 6 ounces of cocoa, 15 grams of baking soda, 3 grams of salt, 8 ounces of sour cream, and 8 ounces of boiling water. For the frosting I will need next ingredients: 4 ounces of cubed butter, 3 ounces of unsweetened chopped chocolate, 3 ounces of semisweet chopped chocolate, 5 cups of sugar, 8 ounces of sour cream, and 10 grams of vanilla extract.

In order to make my favorite cake, I need to buy many ingredients. So, I write a list of products which I need and go to the closest shop. I buy 2 kilos of sugar, 1 pack of vanilla extract, 1 pack of cocoa, 2 packs of sour cream, 2 packs of butter, and 2 bars of different chocolate. The eggs, flour, soda, salt and, of course, water I have at home. So I pay for the necessary products and go home quickly in order to start doing my lovely hobby faster. I like to prepare this cake as it is very tasty and can adorn every table. Though it is a dessert, it is not so harmful. In one slice it contains: 685 calories, 29 grams of fat, 115 milligrams of cholesterol, 505 milligrams of sodium, 102 grams of carbohydrate, and 7 grams of protein. By the way, my cake will be for 16 servings. The time of preparation takes 30 minutes, then 30 minutes of baking and at last cooling of the cake in the fridge for some hours.

Before starting the cooking the most important thing that I should do is to wash the hands. Then I need to find the necessary dishes where I can mix all the ingredients. First, I turn on the oven as it should be preheated to 350̊ and then continue my preparations. I get from the fridge the butter in order it will be softened. If I have no time for it, I can put it into the microwave oven and it will be softened in a minute. Then I boil the water for the cake and measure all the ingredients and put them separately into different cups in necessary measure. After this I find the pan where I can mix all the ingredients. One more important step is to decide where to bake the cake. As I have different forms for the cake, today I decide to choose the form in the shape of a heart. I take this form and put the parchment on the bottom of the form and grease it with the butter in order my cake will not burn.

Then I take a big bowl and I beat up softened butter and brown sugar until become be lighter and fluffy. Then I add eggs one by one and beat them up together with vanilla well. In a different bowl, I beat up baking soda, flour, salt, and cocoa; then I add to this mixture sour cream, and beat everything well up. I stir it in water until everything will be blended. When it is finished, I transfer the mixture to prepared form. I will bake it for half an hour and need to check it with a toothpick so it should be inserted in the center of the cake and comes out clean. After this it is necessary to cool the cake in the form for 10 minutes. For the frosting, I take the glass bowl which I put above the other bowl with boiling water. I need to melt the butter and chocolates; then it is important to mix everything well and let it cool a bit. In the other big bowl, I mix sugar with sour cream and vanilla. Then I add chocolate mixture and beat everything until it is smooth. At the end I spread the glaze between layers of the cake and over the top and sides of the cake. The cake should be put into the fridge for some time. After some hours, then we enjoy its delicious taste.

To sum everything up, I would like to say that I adore cooking and especially different sweets. If I have any spare time, I always choose to cook some desserts and then enjoy eating them with a cup of tea or coffee. For me there is nothing better than to treat my friends or relatives with something that I made by myself. Besides, I would like to be good at cooking desserts as I consider them to be the most difficult section of cooking in any cuisine.
