I’ve talked about this a little bit before, but the effects of positive influence in your life, in regards to weight loss, and everything else, cannot be overstated. And that goes also for the detrimental effect that negative people have in your life. Or negative thoughts for that matter. Sounds a lot easier than it actually is obviously, because some of those people you have to see on a daily basis. But the mental aspect of weight loss is huge. Back when I was doing my internship for physical therapy, I had heard about EFT. It stands for Emotional Freedom Technique. Now, it sounds farfetched and I will be the first to admit that. There is however something to it. I’m a skeptic and don’t really believe or endorse anything until I try it. But I will pretty much try anything, if for nothing else than to have a better understanding. So EFT basically studies, for lack of a better word, the effects that negative and positive influences have on cells and molecular make up, not only in the body but anything living really.

If you look this up, it will show you a different molecular make up of cells after blasting classical music and heavy metal music to different objects. Obviously these experiments don’t take place side by side. They have the before and after pictures of what they look like, and the negative, heavy metal for example just shows a mangled molecular make up. Alright, anyone can fake before and after pictures, especially in weight loss and fitness. So I wanted to try this out for myself.

They have an experiment you can run on your own, which consists of two separate containers of rice. You tape on positive words to the first jar and negative words on the other. Each day you are supposed to talk really nice to the First jar, and mean to the other. Get the point? I really don’t have the patience for this, since it takes like 3-4 weeks. So I had my nieces and nephews do it for me. After a month, the negative jar was disgustingly moldy, absolutely gross. However, the other jar didn’t have any negative effects whatsoever. Now that’s pretty amazing.

This directly applies to our life and our bodies. When people are constantly talking down to you, calling you a failure. telling you that you’re going to fail, it basically destroys you inside and out. It’s extremely difficult to succeed in anything with that type of negativity taking place on a constant basis. This is reason you need to remove all the negative people and influences in your life. They are useless to you. These people obviously don’t care about you, your happiness or your success anyway.

You now need to get yourself around likeminded people. The types that will be uplifting to you and people that will reinforce your same goals or aspirations. You can never underestimate the power that a positive person can have on your life. And on the flip side, no matter how insignificant someone’s negatives comments can be, they can take a huge toll. Just think about the effect that a simple look of disappointment or disgust can have on you. It may seem insignificant but a look of disapproval sometimes makes us feel worse than getting yelled at.
